Before going solo, Laura gained phenomenal experience across various typologies at various
award-winning firms by working on notable projects such as the
5-Star Green Star design rated 144 Oxford Road (2020) and Alice Lane Phase III (2017), both by Paragon Group, Sasol Chemcity Incubator Hub (2014) by Impendulo Design Architects, and the Sarah Baartman Centre of Remembrance (2009) by Wilkinson Architects.
With a vested interest in Johannesburg, Laura is a SACAP-registered Professional Architect based in Linden, and knows and loves this troubled, scrambling city.
Laura's passion for placemaking led her to be involved in PRABOA, where she served the Parkhurst community while investigating urban solutions for citywide issues.
She's lectured and mentored undergraduate architecture students at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (University of Johannesburg) and is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.
Off the clock, you can find her scouring for preloved items at secondhand shops, planning her next renovation or enjoying a (thrifted) novel.
As a small firm, you'll get to know us well.
I work closely with you throughout your project, focusing on the various aspects of
building a home.
Just like you, I wear many hats, and my typical ‘day in the life’ includes
+ design visualisation, mood boards, and material selection
+ drawing building plans
+ local authority approvals
+ construction detailing
+ liaising with contractors, suppliers, and consultants, and
+ project documentation.

Architect-Led Solutions supporting Everyday Living
AADS collaborates with various industry leaders to offer you complete residential architectural design services from concept (Work Stage 1) to close-out (Work Stage 6).
Registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP), we're also
a Level 4 B-BBEE contributor.
Each quarter, our studio accepts only a limited number of projects to maintain quality and client service.
Also note we only take on new builds starting at R1.5 million+ (excluding land) and renovations with budgets of R1 million+.

As part of our Architectural Consultancy, we offer 3 packages for you to choose from:
- A 60-min virtual Discovery Call where we ascertain your needs and options, and I walk you through next steps. Ideal if you are curious but unsure where to start - it's helpful for figuring stuff out,
- A 90-min on-site Kick-off Consult, where we develop a sensible master plan for you to work towards over time. You might not have a budget in mind yet, but you've been playing around with a few ideas and you'd like more options or alternatives,
and
- Full Architectural Services (Work Stage 1 to 6, or as agreed). Full Service Design Starts at R100K Minimum in Fees.
